Say hello to one of our favourite extension methods - the Nano Bead Hair Extension! Not only is this one of the smallest and most discreet extension installation methods, but it’s also a revolutionary way to add length and volume without heat or adhesives. This method allows your hair to move freely without adding stress and excess weight to the hair follicle. Unlike similar methods, nano beads are also reusable (woohoo)!

How are nano bead hair extensions applied? 

The nano bead application process involves placing individual hair extension strands and securing them with a nano bead. Nano beads use the smallest of beads to ensure the hair extensions are in place. Since nano extensions are so tiny, nano beads are virtually undetectable once installed. As far as reinstalls and removals go, they are safe, easy and clean, without chemicals. You simply open the metal micro ring to release the strand.

Who is a good candidate for nano bead hair extensions?        

Nano extensions are well-suited for virtually any hair type! You can install nano extensions on anyone with thin to thick hair and fine to coarse hair. Although, where nano extensions really shine is on fine hair. When a client’s hair is baby fine and is not well-suited for other methods, nanos really come in handy since they are so lightweight! Nanos are also fabulous for clients whose front hairline is sparse since this can make installs using other methods a little tricky. Nanos solves that problem, leaving those finer-haired clients jumping for joy!

We love nano extensions for their versatility! They are an excellent choice if you’re looking for a hybrid method of hand-tied wefts throughout the body of the hair with some more delicate nano extensions to fill in smaller sections, like around the face. 

Nano extensions are also ideal for someone who likes to wear their hair in many different hairstyles since each hair extension is individually placed, giving each hair extension a complete 360-degree moment. 

Suppose a client is looking for a significant colour transformation, nanos can help achieve just that. Let’s say your client wants to add blonde highlights to their dark brown hair without bleach; with nanos, you can add that beautiful pop of colour without going through the bleaching process and potentially causing damage to your client’s hair. 

What tools do stylists need for a nano bead hair extension class?

At every nano extension class, stylists will receive a starter kit (included with your registration). The kit is valued at $250 and includes 1 opener/remover, 1wire roll, 3 colours of nano beads, Velcro gripper, a wire cutter and Philocaly practice hair.

While most of the supplies are included, we do ask students to bring their own mannequin head and stand, tail comb and Framar clips, or pin curl clips and a spray bottle to dampen the hair for seamless installation.

What happens at a nano bead hair extension class?

Throughout the class, we will cover absolutely everything you need to know about nano extensions and how to successfully install these for your clients. 

We will go through a demo application shown by your educator. Throughout the day, you will have the opportunity to then practice the application method on your mannequin. 

You’ll learn how to consult with your client, colour match, prep your nano station, section the hair/placement, installation, cutting/blending, and any troubleshooting that may come up behind the chair. For example, suppose the nanos are slipping out of your client’s hair or looking big and bulky; by the end of the class, you’ll be able to confidently problem-solve any situation that comes your way. 

While installing is one piece of the puzzle, your clients will also come to you when it's time to remove their extensions. We will go through precisely how to remove the nanos to protect the integrity of your client’s hair. 

We want to ensure you also get the most out of your education! We will walk you through exactly how to price your nano installs so that you’re adding a service to your salon that will show its worth through and through. 

Finally, we share marketing best practices to get those valuable nano clients into your chair! 

What happens after the class? 

We love to see how students bring this education back to their salon. Once you complete the course, you’ll receive a Philocaly certificate and Philocaly-verified decals that you can show off at your station.
