Brace yourselves, stylists! THIS is going to be a game-changer!
As if the excitement over the New Year wasn't enough, now you can add one more reason to celebrate. This year, your Philocaly family is answering your wishes and bringing you something new: Genius Weft extensions!
Yes, you read that right! We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to bring you an extension that brings together everything you love from our hand-tied and flat wefts —and more!
To be sure, the genius weft extensions are made using the same high-quality, natural-looking hair as our other extensions. This time, we took everything up the notch to create one of the thinnest, flattest, and most lightweight wefts on the market.
And we didn’t stop there.
To make sure you can add that new level of oomph to your client's do, the genius weft will be available in all the same colours and lengths you know and love. So, whether your client is looking to add length that'll make Kendall Jenner jealous or just wants to add a little extra volume and fullness, you've got something one of the most versatile extensions to work with!
And last but certainly not least, we have made sure that the genius weft is thin enough to be used with our revolutionary flip up method- now how genius is that! Ready to style up using this? Find out EVERYTHING you need to know about this exciting addition and how it can be used in your salon.
What is a genius weft?
Genius weft is a type of hair extension designed to provide more versatility for stylists and their clients. It can easily be cut, coloured, and styled to suit any hair length or style, giving you more room to play around.
More importantly, this type of weft is only 0.78mm thick, which makes it almost as thin as the traditional hand-tied weft. Once installed, your client will barely notice that she has them on!
Got clients with easily irritated scalps? The genius weft is a perfect match for them since it does not have return hair at all! This means your client will be more comfortable and will be able to enjoy the extensions longer.
How to install a genius weft?
Ready to recommend this to your gorgeous clients? If the answer is a resounding "yes," then keep reading as we walk you through the best ways to install a genius weft.
Let's start with the basics, shall we?
First, you need to properly assess the client's hair length, density, and volume. Additionally, you need to ask about the look they are going for so that you order enough wefts to cover their entire head. Here at Philocaly, we recommend getting anywhere between 1-4 packs of genius wefts for a full application.
Once you have your genius wefts and know the client's desired look, it is time to get down to business.
Here are the two best installation types: The original beaded row method and flip up method.
Beaded Row Method
This installation method makes use of silicone-lined nano beads, which allow the wefts to be attached securely and seamlessly. It's a solid method that'll work for genius, hand-tied, and flat wefts, making it a great beginner-friendly technique for stylists looking to expand their services.

Flip Up Method
Whether you're using your favourite hand-tied weft or the newest genius weft, the flip up installation is guaranteed to work well on any type of hair. It utilizes the same technique as the beaded row, but the flip up levels it up by introducing a new stitching pattern and placement for a more undetectable look. Even if your client has the finest of locks, they'll be happy to know that this method will significantly reduce tension and chances of breakage.
