The Met Gala's Most Glamorous Hair
May 05, 2022
It’s the first Monday in May, and you know what that means... drumroll... THE Met Gala, of course.
Considered “fashion’s biggest night out”, we have total *heart eyes* over so many of this year’s celebs and socialites’ red carpet glam.
This year’s theme, An Anthology of Fashion – AKA, Gilded Glamour, is an ode to the period stretching from 1870 to 1890. An age of extreme wealth and excess, picture: corsets, long-boned bodices, and full-length gloves.
While we can’t get enough of the gorgeous gowns, there’s no surprise that we’re also OBSESSING over the fabulous hairstyles. Some classic, some fresh and out-of-the-box, some on theme, we’re here for it all.
So, if you’re gushing just as much as we are, keep scrolling and check out a roundup of our top picks...
Olivia Rodrigo and some serious gilded mermaid vibes.
Camila Cabello with an effortless tousled top knot, floral accessories, and face-framing tendrils.
Maude Apatow screaming classic old Hollywood with her stunning finger waves.
Caroline Trentini taking the slicked back bun to new heights.
SZA’s very ON theme Regency-era curls.
Alicia Keys’ long spiral braid giving a cool futuristic aesthetic.
Kaia Gerber and her larger-than-life curls, no doubt the focal point of her look.
Vanessa Hudgens sporting an ultra-dense braided updo giving a witchy gothic feel.
Kiki Layne looking picturesque with her 70s-style afro.
Edvin Thompson – HELLO gilded glam with these gold shell beads.
Gigi Hadid shaking up the slicked-back bun with Y2K-esque spiky ends.
Lizzo blending the iconic finger waves with fun fluffy curls.
Billie Eilish nailed the Gilded Age with her flawless updo and piecy bangs.
Conan Gray looking both fashion-forward and timeless with his effortless waves and sprinkled gems.
Maisie Williams channeling the perfect mix between masc and femme.
Laura Harrier, more sculpted finger waves (we just can’t get enough)!
Bella Hadid with a center-parted half-updo, sending us back to the late 1800s.
And finally, we have to applaud Kim for her commitment to the look after undergoing a 14-hour colour transformation to achieve this Marilyn-inspired bombshell blonde.

While gowns may be the centrepiece, the most fabulous ensembles simply aren’t complete without the perfect hair. Which Met Gala look was your fave?
